Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions

Did you know that if you are convicted of a crime, you could face deportation if you are not a US citizen?

Sometimes, you don't even need to be "convicted."  Sometimes, a withhold of adjudication may be enough for you to be subjected to deportation.

You can be convicted of a crime either by being found guilty by a judge or jury, or by accepting a plea bargain that includes an adjudication.

Here are just some of the crimes that could subject you to deportation should you be found guilty or plead guilty:

Fraud or theft crimes
Money laundering
Domestic violence (felony or misdemeanor)

If you are charged with a crime, make sure you discuss with your criminal defense attorney whether a guilty plea would subject you to deportation.

If you are facing criminal charges and you are not a US citizen, you may be in a position where you must fight the charges.

If you are unsure about whether a guilty plea will result in your being subject to deportation, call me to discuss your case.  I represent clients in criminal matters in Miami-Dade and Broward.
