Branch Court
For misdemeanors and county ordinance violations in Miami-Dade and Broward County, cases are often assigned to various "branch" courts, or satellite courts as they are called in Broward County.
Due to the high volume of misdemeanor, traffic, and criminal traffic cases that come into Miami and Broward, there are different courthouses where these cases are sent depending on where you were arrested.
For Miami-Dade County:

These locations typically correspond with where you were arrested. For instance, if you were arrested ( PTA also counts as an arrest) in Coral Gables for a misdemeanor or county/municipal ordinance violation, your case will likely be heard at the Coral Gables District Court. If you were arrested in Sunny Isles Beach, North Miami, Aventura, North Miami Beach, El Portal, Miami Shores, or Northwest Miami-Dade County, your case will likely be heard at the North Dade Justice Center.
Remember - branch/satellite courts are only for misdemeanors. In Miami-Dade County, all felonies go to the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building.

Same as with Miami-Dade County: all Broward County felonies go to the Judicial Complex. Misdemeanors and ordinance violations go to the satellite courthouses. For example, if you are arrested in Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, or Hallandale Beach, your case will likely go to the South Regional Courthouse. If you are arrested in Sunrise, Plantation, Weston, or Tamarac, your case will likely go to the West Regional Courthouse.
DUIs, at least in Miami-Dade, always go to the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building.
Misdemeanors and county ordinance violations carry fines, possible convictions, and sometimes jail time. They could also leave you with a criminal record. It is wise to hire a criminal lawyer when facing any criminal charge, no matter how serious. If you are a first-time offender or are otherwise eligible, you may be able to get your record sealed or expunged when the case is through.
