Police Search For Broward County Robbery Suspects
Police are searching for two men who they believe robbed two Broward County stores in the last two weeks.
The first robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Food Stop at 7556 NW 58th St. in Tamarac.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said two men pointed a gun at a clerk in the store and yanked the entire cash register from the counter, then escaped. The clerk was not injured.
Police said they believe the same two men robbed a Farm Store at 4420 NE First Terrace in Oakland Park six days later.
The robbers in that case stole the store's entire cash register, as well, police said.
In both crimes, one robber wore gloves with orange markings and held a handgun with an extended magazine.
The addition of the firearm makes this crime eligible for the
10-20-Life mandatory sentencing scheme.
Under Florida law, if you possess a firearm during the commission of a felony, you face a mandatory sentence of 10 years in state prison. If you discharge the firearm during the commission of the felony, you face a mandatory 20 years.
