Man Allegedly Kidnapped and Robbed In North Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade Police are trying to find a suspect who allegedly kidnapped and then robbed a man at a gas station.

According to Miami-Dade Police, at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, a customer was filling up his sport utility vehicle at the Sunoco Gas Station, located on Northwest 103rd Street and Seventh Avenue when an armed subject climbed into his SUV. The man then took the customer to a couple of ATMs, but according to police, the customer was unable to take out cash from any of the ATMs.

Police said the victim was able to call 911 from inside his SUV unbeknownst to the suspect. Eventually, the victim bailed out of the vehicle near Northeast 127th Street and West Dixie Highway. Miami-Dade Police searched for the man but to no avail.

The victim was not injured.

Armed kidnapping and armed robbery with a firearm are both felonies that are punishable by a maximum of life in prison. They are also non-bondable offenses, meaning that a judge will not release an accused person on bond without first holding an Arthur Hearing. At the Arthur Hearing, the judge will first determine whether the State has sufficient evidence to prove the accused guilty (proof evident, presumption great). If that prong is met, the judge will then determine whether the accused is a danger to the community. If the judge finds both, the accused will remain in jail without a bond.

Armed kidnapping and armed robbery are very serious crimes. If you know somebody who is facing violent felony charges and needs a criminal defense attorney for a case in either Miami-Dade or Broward, call me.
