Charges Reduced For Hialeah Girl Charged With Felony Murder

The young Hialeah woman accused of helping her friend steal a WaveRunner from a Miami Shores house last month won't face a felony  murder charge for his shooting death.

Last month, I wrote about how a 19-year old girl had been charged with felony murder after her boyfriend was shot and killed while attempting to steal a WaveRunner at a Miami Shores home.  The boyfriend was killed by the son of the homeowner.  Click here to read more.

Miami-Dade prosecutors filed a third-degree grand theft charge against the 19-year old after they determined they could not prove a more serious burglary charge, which was needed to sustain the second-degree felony murder charge.

Under Florida law, anyone who commits certain felonies such as burglary can be held responsible for murder if someone dies during the commission of the crime.
