Teacher Accused of Lewd Or Lascivious Battery Back In Custody

Aggressive Trial Attorney With a Reputation for Success

A Miami-Dade teacher has been taken back into custody after his bond was revoked for allegedly contacting the victim in his case after a stay-away order had been issued by the court.

The teacher had initially been charged with lewd or lascivious battery on a minor and had posted his bond. However, after the arrest, it is alleged that the accused tried to contact the alleged victim through social media outlets.

In sex crimes cases, stay-away orders are almost always issued by the court. These orders require that the accused not contact the alleged victim in any way. This includes direct, indirect, third-party, and electronic communication. Contacting a person through social media outlets, such as Twitter or Facebook, is a violation of a stay-away order.

The accused will remain in custody until the case is resolved.

Eric Matheny is a criminal defense attorney serving Miami-Dade and Broward. Attorney Eric Matheny represents clients charged with sex crimes.
