Charges To Increase For Causeway LSA Suspect

One of two cyclists injured in a hit-and-run crash on the Rickenbacker Causeway on Wednesday morning has died, Miami police said.

According to investigators, the hit-and-run suspect turned himself in to police early Thursday morning. At the time the accused turned himself in, the alleged victims were both alive. At the time, he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident (LSA) with great bodily injury, a third degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

He was also charged with driving while license suspended (DWLS).

The accused was out on bond for possession of cocaine at the time of this accident. He was a participant in the Miami-Dade Drug Court Program.

Now his charges will be increased due to the fact that the alleged victim has died.

He will likely remain in jail without a bond due to the new arrest he picked up while out on bond.
