Miami Police Stop Burglary In Progress

Two City of Miami Police officers alleged stopped a burglary in progress when they observed a man inside of a hous in the 1300 block of Southwest Fifth Street in Little Havana.

Police had apparently received a call about a break-in.

Police responded and reportedly found the alleged burglar inside of the home.

The accused has been charged with one count of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.

A dwelling, or home burglary, is a more serious offense than a car burglary or a structural (business) burglary. Even for first-time offenders, a dwelling burglary results in a Florida Criminal Punishment Code score of 21 months state prison all the way up to 15 years state prison.
