The Miami-Dade Police Department was working two active crime scenes within unincorporated Miami-Dade County this morning at around 10 a.m.

The first incident was a robbery turned homicide that occurred at the corner of Northwest 95th Street and Northwest 7th Avenue.

A man in a wheelchair was shot and killed.

A Chevy Impala was observed fleeing the scene. This led to a high-speed chase northbound on I-95 that ended in a crash near Miami Gardens. The suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect will be charged with armed robbery, first-degree murder (occurred during commission of a felony), and fleeing and eluding.

Armed robbery is punishable by life. First-degree murder is a capital offense, meaning that the state could declare that they will be seeking the death penalty. Fleeing and eluding at a high rate of speed, also known as aggravated fleeing and eluding, is a second-degree felony punishable by a maximum of 15 years in prison.
