Shooting In Pembroke Pines May Be Self-Defense

Aggressive Trial Attorney With a Reputation for Success

A 71 year-old Davie man is under investigation after he allegedly fired his gun at the driver of a van outside of a Pembroke Pines Walgreens.

Many important facts are not yet known. What is known at this time is that the accused shooter and the alleged victim may have had an altercation while driving westbound on Pines Boulevard. A single shot was fired from the shooter’s car to the alleged victim’s car. Police found a bullet hole through the alleged victim’s windshield and a smear of blood on the driver-side door.

Apparently, both sides are giving statements to police. At this time, no charges have been filed.

Florida’s Stand Your Ground law permits you to use lethal force if you reasonably believe that it is necessary to prevent imminent harm or death.

The police would have to believe that the shooter used lethal force because it was necessary to save his own life. They will rely upon surveillance footage, statements of the parties involved, forensic evidence, and eyewitness statements.

The shooter could be charged with attempted murder if the police do not believe that he is protected from prosecution under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.
