Local 10 is reporting that Miami-Dade Police are searching for a woman who allegedly stole dozens of bottles of nail polish from a Miami Walgreens store.
The alleged theft occurred late in the evening on April 7. Miami-Dade Police said a woman in her early 20s went into a Walgreens at 8450 SW 24th St. and grabbed about 85 bottles of nail polish worth $658.
While a shoplifting incident, the amount in question - $658 - makes this a felony charge of grand theft in the 3rd degree, punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.
If the value of items stolen is $300 or more in Florida, the charge is elevated from petit theft to grand theft.
Police have reviewed store surveillance in order to determine the identity of the accused shoplifter.
A person accused of retail theft may be eligible for Pretrial Intervention. If the program is successfully completed, the case will be dismissed and you could be eligible to expunge your record.
