Two West Palm Beach men whose entire residence "smelled like marijuana," according to police, have been arrested on a number of serious charges, including trafficking in marijuana (cannabis).

One of the two men was arrested on charges of possession of and trafficking in marijuana and of possession of a weapon, police said. Police also charged another man with possession of and trafficking in marijuana.

According to an arrest report, members of the West Palm Beach SWAT and Organized Crime Search went o the residence in the 900 block of 43rd Street with a search warrant.

After several knocks on the front door went unanswered, SWAT forced its way into the residence, the report said.

A group of men, including one of the men who was later arrested, were inside, and the officers found money and a handgun in the home's den area, the report said. In the kitchen, they found three scales, marijuana and bags used to pack the drug, the report said.

The police allegedly went to a room that one of the accused men identified as his bedroom and found a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun and a large amount of marijuana, the report said.

In total, the officers found about 44 pounds of marijuana at the home. Agents obtained a warrant to search it and found $23,725 inside a safe.

Trafficking in marijuana carries a three-year mandatory minimum sentence for 25 to 2,000 pounds of cannabis.
