A West Palm Beach teenager is facing life in prison after allegedly shooting a dog during a residential burglary.

The teen faces charges of armed burglary and felony cruetly to animals.

The teen allegedly confessed to the crime where he told investigators that he and an accomplice targeted the home because it belonged to a former law enforcement officer. Because of that, the teen reportedly stated, he believed that guns would be present inside of the home.

While in the home, the teen stated that he shot the dog.

Armed burglary is a life felony. It is also a non-bondable offense.

In Florida, most teenagers 16 and older are sent to adult court for serious offenses.
