The City of Miami Police Department has announced that they will be targeting 16 specific shopping centers within the City of Miami in which to add increased police presence to provide security for holiday shoppers.
The Miami Police Department plans on dedicating dozens of officers to these holiday shopping center details. The aim of this saturation is to prevent holiday shopping thefts and robberies that are common this time of year.
In addition to police saturation, most shopping plazas have video surveillance as well as their own security personnel.
Thefts and robberies that can occur during the holiday shopping season include burglaries of cars (burglary of an unoccupied conveyance), robbery by sudden snatching, strong-arm robbery, and even armed robbery.
