The Broward Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in a Cooper City burglary.

While investigating the scene of a residential burglary, police discovered a wallet. Using the ID found inside of the wallet, police obtained the name of the suspect. A records check revealed that the suspect had a prior record and was presently out on bond with a GPS monitor for another burglary case in Broward County.

GPS records will likely be able to indicate whether the suspect was at the house that was burglarized.

Burglary of a residence is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in state prison. The suspect is also charged with grand theft in the third-degree as the homeowner alleges that about $12,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from inside of the home.
