Broward Man Accused Of Robbing Casino Winner

A Broward County man is being held in the Broward County Jail on charges of home invasion robbery (without a firearm) and grand theft in the third degree. He is being held without bond on a previous grand theft charge for which he was out on bond when the new offense allegedly occurred.

The man is accused of following a woman home from the Seminole Classic Casino who had won $8,000 in chips playing baccarat. Once the woman arrived at her house, the accused is charged with following her into her home, pushing her down, and stealing her purse, which contained her winnings.

The accused is said to have returned to the casino attempting to cash in some of the stolen chips. The alleged victim’s purse was also reportedly found in the accused’s car.

Police say that video surveillance from the casino links the accused to the crime as well.

A home invasion robbery that does not involve the use of a weapon or firearm is punishable by up to 30 years in prison. A grand theft in the third degree is punishable by 5 years.

The accused is being held without a bond because he was out on a previous bond when he picked up the charge. If you are out on felony bond and you get arrested for another crime, you have violated one of the material conditions of you bond by committing a new law violation.
