Just this afternoon, a well-known Downtown Miami gym was the scene of a raid by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). According to preliminary reports, management at the gym may have been involved in the distribution of illegal steroids.
Anabolic steroids are scheduled as controlled substances by both federal and state law. On the state level, possession can result in a maximum penalty of five years in state prison.
As of this afternoon, the gym is still considered a secure crime scene. U.S. Marshals have blocked off entry to members.
No word on how many were arrested or if any narcotics were discovered during the course of the raid.
