A man is in police custody after a SWAT standoff that occurred in Miami yesterday afternoon.  Authorities arrested a 32-year-old man after a standoff at the Saturn Motel, located at Biscayne Boulevard and 71 Street, that practically shut down the city's busiest street.

According to Miami Police, as well as WSVN, they were searching for a carjacking subject, which led them to the motel. When police arrived on the scene, police allege that the man barricaded himself in the room along with a female and a small child.

After a couple of hours, SWAT took Chester into custody without incident.

Both the female and child were examined by fire rescue and are OK. The female was arrested on the scene in reference to an open bench warrant and drug charge.

According to the Miami-Dade Department of Corrections, the accused has been charged with one count of strong-arm robbery and one count of false imprisonment.

He is in jail on a $12,500 bond.  It is alleged that the carjacking occurred without the use of a weapon, making the charge a second-degree felony.  The false imprisonment charge is likely for keeping the woman and child inside of the hotel room.

He will likely face resisting without violence charges due to the standoff.
