In one of the most brazen crimes I've ever heard of, a few police impersonators pulled off an armed carjacking against an off-duty BSO (Broward Sheriff's Office) deputy.

Armed carjacking is a form of armed robbery.

Allegedly the other night, a BSO deputy was driving home near Miramar Parkway and the Florida Turnpike. According to police reports, the deputy was pulled over by a car fitted with police lights. Thinking that he was being pulled over, the deputy stopped. He was then ambushed by approximately three young men armed with guns. They took his car and sped off.

Armed carjacking with a firearm is punishable by up to life in prison. Under Florida's 10-20-Life law, possessing a firearm during the commission of this crime warrants a 10-year mandatory minimum prison sentence.

If arrested, these suspects will be in held in custody without a bond.
