A veteran Miami police officer who has been featured on the hit show The First 48 has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.
The officer is accused of hitting a taxi on I-95 last year, causing injuries to 5 people. The officer is then accused of fleeing the scene of the crash.
The officer allegedly abandoned his car. DNA swabs were used to place the officer behind the wheel of the car.
If convicted, the officer faces over 20 years in prison.
