Grand theft in the first degree is a first-degree felony punishable by a maximum of 30 years in prison. Restitution
is almost always a condition of any plea negotiation.
Cargo theft crimes are taken seriously by prosecutors, and may be assigned to specialized economic crimes units to their organized, sophisticated nature.
