Broward County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a suspect following the thefts of an estimated $200,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables from Pompano Beach homes.
BSO investigators have put together a composite sketch of a burglary suspect who has targeted condos in the past several weeks.
According to the Miami Herald, the alleged burglar is suspected of taking laptops, TV sets, bicycles, luggage, a camera, cash and jewelry from a dozen condos between Feb. 14 and March 26.
Police have put together the composite sketch based on eyewitness statements, which have provided police with a basic framework upon which to base their investigation. It is unknown at this point whether the police have any physical evidence - such as fingerprints or DNA hits - that would lead to a suspect. It is also unknown whether any of the allegedly stolen items have been sold at pawn shops, or whether any attempts to sell the items have been made.
Police think that the suspected burglar works with at least one accomplice and usually breaks windows next to doors to reach the door locks.
Burglary of an unoccupied dwelling is a second degree felony, punishable by a maximum of 15 years in state prison. Each burglary is considered to be one count of this crime. This suspect will also be charged with grand theft and criminal mischief for any items taken and any damage done to the properties.
