Police in Lake Worth, Florida, have allegedly discovered a home that contained a marijuana grow house yielding 300 plants.

The police reportedly discovered the grow house upon a tip. Based partially upon the tip, police officers obtained a search warrant for the property.

Once inside, police discovered a grow house operation with 300 plants inside. The owner of the home allegedly made a statement that he was growing the marijuana to help him pay the mortgage on the home, which was supposedly in foreclosure.

The weight of the marijuana was reportedly more than 25 pounds, which led to the police charging the man with trafficking in marijuana (cannabis), in addition to charges for operating the grow house.

Trafficking in marijuana with 300 plants or 25 pounds is a first-degree felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison with a 3-year mandatory prison term.
