Miami Mother Charged In Child's Death Held Without Bond

A West Miami-Dade mother has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of her one-year old son. The allegation is that the woman left her child alone in a parked car for an undetermined period of time. When the child was found later on, he was dead. It is apparent that the child died due to being left in a hot car.

The woman is being held without bond not because of the charge itself. Aggravated manslaughter is a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. She would be eligible for a bond under normal circumstances.

The reason that she is being held without bond is that when she was arrested for this aggravated manslaughter charge, she was already out on bond for a DUI and child neglect case that occurred back in 2012.

If you are out on bond and are re-arrested, that is a violation of a bond condition and the court can revoke the previous bond.

Until further order of the court, the woman will remain in custody.
