Whether dealing with an open criminal case or a criminal investigation, anxiety is a totally normal and human reaction.
Uncertainty is one of the scariest concepts we deal with. Not knowing what's going to happen.
And essentially - that's what's going on when dealing with a criminal matter.
If under investigation, you don't know if you're going to get arrested and end up charged. If already charged, you don't know if you're going to go to jail.
Not knowing the outcome of something can be very frightening.
So your anxiety is warranted. Hopefully, your attorney can give you some peace of mind. While no criminal attorney can promise or guarantee a result, if they have dealt with cases similar to your's (hopefully they have), they may be able to provide some insight as to how matters like your's normally get resolved.
While every case is unique and past results cannot determine future outcomes, being honest and open with your criminal defense attorney may make you feel a little more at ease.
But remember - your lawyer is not your therapist. If you are struggling with anxiety because of a pending criminal matter, please seek help from a mental health professional. There is no shame is asking for help during a difficult time, and seeking treatment while a criminal case is pending may actually help with a resolution to your matter.
