Boca Raton police have arrested a Lake Worth man in a road-rage attack with a baseball bat on Palmetto Park Road.

The 43-year old suspect was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting another driver during rush-hour traffic on March 29th, Boca Raton police said.

Police responded to a commotion that evening in the 1700 block of Palmetto Park Road, near the entrance ramp to northbound Interstate 95. Several drivers had stopped to break up a street fight between the accused, who was driving a 2002 Jaguar FX and the alleged victim, a 22-year old man, who was behind the wheel of a 2002 Ford Taurus.

The alleged victim told police that he was driving west on Palmetto Park Road and braked suddenly in the heavy traffic. The accused, he told police, was driving fast behind him and veered his Jaguar to avoid hitting the Taurus. The alleged victim admitted that he laughed and flipped off the accused.

At that point, the accused allegedly stopped the Jaguar, got out, and spat on Adams through the Taurus' open passenger-door window, according to a Boca Raton police arrest report. He then walked toward the driver's door and Adams got out to face him.

According to witnesses, a fight ensued between the two men, which culminated in the accused obtaining a baseball bat and using it to strike the alleged victim's car, as well as the alleged victim.

The accused was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail late Thursday on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief. He was released the next day on a $15,000 bond.
