Several months ago, a Coral Springs medical center employee claimed that she was the victim of a brutal attack by a stranger, which resulted in her place of work being set on fire.
However, after a lengthy fire and police investigation, the 40-year old medical center employee has been charged with arson and filing a false police report.
Arson is punishable by up to 30 years in state prison.
Police relied upon inconsistencies in the woman's story to piece together the facts of the case. According to police, the woman made up the story about the attack and actually set the fire herself.
The woman has posted a bond and has been released from the Broward County Jail. Her case is currently pending trial.
