Man Suspected Of Several Acts of Theft At Broward County Publix Stores

A Broward County man is suspected of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of beer and packaged steaks at Publix stores throughout West Broward County. Publix stores in Weston, Cooper City, Plantation, and Davie were known to have been targeted.

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives believe that the suspect targeted these stores specifically and committed several acts of theft over a period of several weeks.

Since the accused has prior petit theft convictions, he is being charged with multiple third-degree felony counts of petit theft. Each act of theft is considered one felony since a petit theft committed with two or more prior convictions is a third-degree felony.

Broward County records show that the accused has a lengthy criminal history, including a ten-year prison sentence that ended back in 2007.

The accused faces five years in prison for each count of felony petit theft.
