Florida's "Super Speeder" Law

Aggressive Trial Attorney With a Reputation for Success

Did you know that in Florida, driving 50 miles or more above the posted speed limit is no longer a non-criminal infraction (traffic ticket).

It is a criminal offense.  You can be arrested and prosecuted for driving 50 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit.

The possible penalties are as follows:

For a First Offense, you can be sentenced up to 30 days in jail; assessed a fine of up to $500. Or both.

For any Second or Subsequent Offense(s), you can be sentenced up to 90 days in jail, assessed a fine of up to $1,000. Or both.

Furthermore, your driver's license may be revoked for six months, even up to a year.

Because this offense is a misdemeanor, police officers can opt to physically arrest you and take you to jail, as opposed to issuing you a criminal citation.

Prosecutors throughout South Florida are taking these "Super Speeder" cases very seriously.

If you or a loved one have been arrested or issued a criminal citation for the offense of driving 50 miles per hour above the speed limit or more, call me to discuss your options.

Let's keep you out of jail!
